Some flash drives will be slow, maybe 30 minutes. Then, you will see some numbers appear, showing the progress of the command. It will work.įinally, the terminal will ask you to press "y" to start the command that you just typed, so type Y, and press enter. Do that, you will NOT see what you type (it's a security feature, just type your password, then press enter. You will be asked to enter your admin password. You will see that disk, with its path, added to the line you have been typing.ĪND, press enter. Now, find the icon for your flash drive (the one you just erased. (notice there are TWO dashes, not just one) Once created, open the USB drive and move the installer app 'Install macOS Sierra' from the USB drive into the trash and empty trash. Next, type -volume, and add one space to that. Use createinstallmedia on the OLD installer (the one with the expired certificate) to create your bootable USB drive. You will see the full path to that file appear next to sudo. Launch your Terminal app, then type sudo, and add a single space.įrom the Resources folder that you left open, drag the file "createinstallmedia" and drop it on your terminal window. Open the Library, then open the "Resources" folder. ![]() Right click on that installer app, and choose "Show Package Contents". The Mojave installer app (Install macOS Mojave) should be in your Applications folder. Make sure it is formatted Mac OS Extended (journaled), and the partition Map is "GUID" Erase that thumb drive, using your Disk Utility. To finish, answer any questions asked by the installer.Insert your USB flash drive (use a 16GB flash drive for this). Highlight the volume you just named as shown below, then click on the Continue button.īelow is an image of El Capitan installing. When you see window, similar to the image shown below, select Quit Disk Utility from the Disk Utility pulldown on the menu bar. When the popup window shown below appears, click on the Done button. Highlight the internal drive as shown in the image below, then click on the Erase button. from the Utilities pulldown on the menu bar.
